Suspect Escapes Heights Police After Foot Chase
A man jumped out of his car and took off running to escape Cleveland Heights police.
CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH β A suspect wanted by police eluded Cleveland Heights officers on Tuesday night.
Police stopped the man's car near Lee and Clarendon roads. As officers approached, the driver and a passenger jumped out of the vehicle and took off running, according to Cleveland Heights Police Chief Annette Mecklenburg.
Officers scoured the area, telling some residents to stay inside their homes during the search.

The passenger, a juvenile, was located and taken into custody, Mecklenburg said. However, the driver, a man wanted on multiple warrants, was able to escape apprehension.

On social media app Nextdoor, Heights residents said police searched through backyards using flashlights and asked residents to remain inside their homes while the search was ongoing.
