Video: Cleveland Heights Resident Pulls Second in Samosa-Eating Contest

Cleveland Heights and Shaker Heights residents win first and second place in the 2011 Cleveland Asian Festival Samosa-Eating Contest

Cleveland Heights resident Alex Madorsky wasn't planning on registering for the 2011 Asian Festival Samosa Eating Contest on Saturday afternoon.Β

He was there to support his buddy Mike Koch, who had put his name in earlier that day. Koch has competed in other eating contests in the Cleveland area, including the famous Melt Challenge at , which he won. Madorsky had never eaten for quantity or speed before.

But the contest required 10 eaters to get started, so he decided to sign up and give it a shot.Β

Koch ended up snagging first place by eating all 10 samosas in "seven minutes and 40 seconds," he said, after timing himself. Madorsky got second by eating almost eight before the announcer decided to end the contest. Β

The top three eaters each received a trophy, and all contestants received a $20 gift card toward more samosas.Β
