Another Mentor Manufacturer Expands In The City

In what has become a welcome theme for this month, another manufacturer in Mentor is choosing to expand in the city.

-- which makes accessories and equipment for trucks, including snow plows, towing attachments, hydraulics and more -- has purchased a production plant at 8200 Tyler Blvd.

The new facility will be down the road from Buyers' headquarters, which is at 9049 Tyler Blvd.

The plant will be used to expand production on Buyers' snow and ice control product lines, according to Crain's Cleveland Business.

Buyers' bought the 8200 Tyler property, which is 500,000 square feet, for $1.5 million, according to the Lake County Auditor's Office.

Buyers' Marketing Manager Brian Smith told Crain's that, "with the economy and cost of real estate, it made more sense” for the company to buy the plant to accommodate its growth.

Production will not immediately begin at the new plant. Instead, Buyers will first renovate the site before moving existing production there.

Three other Mentor businesses have announced this month that they will be expanding in the city. The biggest of these announcements came from , .

The purchase ensures that more than 400 jobs will stay in Mentor.

Meanwhile, JE Pistons -- a maker of high-performance forged pistons for the motorsports and powersports market -- announced that it is relocating its advanced manufacturing center from California to Mentor.

The move will bring between 100 and 150 jobs to the city of Mentor.

, which is already based in Mentor, and JE have the same parent company, Performance Motorsports Inc. (PMi).

Finally, Mentor City Council that will keep them in Mentor and help them expand.

Cleveland Construction intends to convert part of its Mentor headquarters from a warehouse into two stories of office space. The project will cost the business about $1.5 million.

Then Cleveland Construction will relocate its affiliated business, Telling Industries, to Mentor. This means, in addition to retaining Cleveland Construction's 59 existing jobs, the business will also add 15 more.
