Woman Accused Of Driving Intoxicated With Kid In Car, Trafficking Marijuana

A Painesville woman is accused of trafficking marijuana, as well as driving while intoxicated with her 14-year-old brother in the car.

Camille Kostal, 28, was arrested shortly after midnight Saturday when a policeman spotted her driving a taxi van with a lit sign.

The van had both changed lanes and turned into the parking lot of without signalling so the officer pulled her over, Mentor Police Lt. Ken Zbiegien said.

When the officer approached van, he could smell marijuana and see some on the floorboard. He suspected that Kostal was driving while on a drug so he asked her to take some field sobriety tests, which she failed so he arrested her, Zbiegien said.

She would later refuse to give a blood sample for drug tests, Zbiegien said

Kostal had two people in the van with her -- her 14-year-old brother over who she has custody and Michael Buck, 25, of Painesville.

Buck is wanted on a warrant for failure to appear in Euclid Municipal Court on larceny and receiving stolen property charges, so he was also arrested, Zbiegien said.

Police officers searched the van and found a marijuana pipe, several open alcohol containers, four bags of marijuana and a bag of cocaine, Zbiegien said.

Kostal and Buck were both charged with marijuana trafficking and cocaine possession. Kostal was also charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, endangering children, possession of paraphernalia and a slew of traffic charges.

She was arraigned Monday morning in .

Judge John Trebets set her bond at $30,500, which has not been posted.

Her next court hearing is scheduled for July 30.

In 2010, Kostal was convicted of trafficking cocaine and counterfeit controlled substances in Lake County Court of Common Pleas. She was sentenced to 60 days in jail and two years of community control.
