Doctor Brings Business Vision to Life with ClearSight Eye Care

Dr. Syed Hasan spent 16 years at Pearle Vision and LensCrafters before opening his own store.

Dr. Syed Hasan hopes to breed as much familiarity as possible during the biggest change of his career.

With the launch of his first business venture, ClearSight Eye Care, Hasan intends to maintain the level of service he believes made him a customer favorite for more than a decade at Pearle Vision and . From frame selections to a Mentor Road location just west of his old workplace, Hasan doesn't want too much to change from what he deems a successful run with his former employers.

"I learned a lot, met a lot of nice patients, but it was time to do my own thing," Hasan said. "It's a big step, but so far it's been alright. They're happy with what we have, our pricing and selection."

His plan to "keep it recognizable" made sense, considering his popularity at his last stop, said Antonio Brooks, an optician at ClearSight who previously worked with Hasan.

"A lot of his customers, who have been coming to him for years, will not go anywhere else," Brooks said. "If he ever had a fill-in doctor, (patients) would reschedule, just to get him to do the exam."

Hasan is counting on such customers to get the business off to a successful start. Meanwhile, he'll continue adapting to product purchasing, working with insurers and other business aspects that are suddenly a part of his agenda.

Initially, those factors and the hope for success produced a few sleepless nights. However, customers' return after the Mentor Pearle Vision became LensCrafters a year ago helped him realize that his new business wouldn't equate to a completely new start.

"A lot of patients would come in and say, 'I'm glad you're still here, doctor, because I thought when they switched the name you had left,'" Hasan said. "Hearing that, day in and day out, made me think that if I did go somewhere else, they might actually follow me."

ClearSight offers lenses, frames, contacts, exams and medical work for conditions like eye infections. Hasan has no goals in mind yet, other than to keep his customers and develop a growing client base.

"We want them to be here for many years to come," he said. "You want them to come back, tell their friends and bring their family members in, as well."
