Lake Effect Comic Book Convention Returns this Sunday to Mentor
This year's event is headlined by Avengers artist & Liberty Meadows creator Frank Cho

The Lake Effect Comic Book Convention returns to Mentor from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. this Sunday and it's bringing with it contests, prizes and high-profile industry professionals.
The con is the creation of Joe Lovece, the manager of ο»ΏComics and Friendsο»Ώ, and it will be held this year in the at Great Lakes Mall.
The featured guest will be Avengers artist and the creator of Liberty Meadows Frank Cho.

Cho joked on his web site that this was a rare trip to Ohio for him because "because thereβs nothing there but farmlands, corn and crystal-meth labs."
And, while Cho was joking about the corn and crystal meth, he wasn't kidding about not making many appearances in the area so this is a rare opportunity for his fans to meet him.

Other comics writers and artists will be at the convention including:
- Gary Dumm, one of the artists who worked on the American Splendor series with Harvey Pekar
- Chris Yambar, writer for the Bart Simpson comic series
- Mark Sumerak, writer for Marvel's Power Pack series
- Bob Ingersoll, writer for Star Trek comics, Moon Knight and others
- Joe Corroney, an artist for Star Trek
- Chris Lambert and David Russell, the creators of Vampire Gazette
Lake Effect Comic Con will also have free superhero movie screenings from noon to 6 p.m., hourly door prizes and a HeroClix tournament from 1 to 5 p.m.
A costume contest will be held at 3 p.m. with separate winners for kids 12 and younger and anyone 13 and older.
Additionally, there will be panels throughout the day in which the artists and writers discuss their craft.
As always, Lake Effect Comic Convention is free to attend.
