Lawnfield, Library Continue Civil War Series With The Second Battle Of Bull Run
The park and library will discuss an important, early victory for the Confederacy

and will continue their series of lunchtime talks on the major battles of the Civil War with "The Battle of Second Manassas" at noon Wednesday.
Patrick Abbey, a volunteer at the historic site, will be the featured speaker.
The battle, also known as the Second Battle of Bull Run, was an early and important victory for the Confederacy.

"It was this victory that convinced General Robert E. Lee that the time was right for the Confederates to invade the North," said Todd Arrington, the chief of interpretation and education for Garfield National Historic Site.
Guests may bring a lunch to enjoy during the talk.

The monthly Civil War series will continue Sept. 12 with a program that focuses on the battle of Antietam (also known as Sharpsburg)..
The library and park's joint series coincides with the park's commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the Civil War.
All of the talks are free and open to the public. However, those interested should register beforehand. They can do so on the library's website or by calling 440-255-8811.
