Man Accused Of Being Getaway Driver In Drug Deal Turned Robbery

A man is accused of being the getaway driver in a that occurred in Mentor.

Peter Giamalas, 26, of Garfield Heights, was charged with robbery and driving under suspension and arraigned Wednesday in .

However, the event that led Giamalas's charge occurred May 20 at a gas station on Lake Shore Boulevard.

That is where Walter Asuma met Timothy Lunato with the intention of selling him some Percocet, .

However, when Lunato, 26, of Eastlake, got his pills he refused to pay. Instead, he got in his car and Giamalas drove away, police said.

Asuma, 52, and his 18-year-old daughter followed in her car.

They chased Lunato to the intersection of Lake Shore and Andrews Road when Lunato got out of his car and punched Asuma in the face, Molnar said.

Lunato then drove away again.

When the Asumas lost Lunato, they called Mentor Police, who have since arrested everyone involved.

Lunato was charged with robbery, drug possession, theft, possession of criminal tools and assault. His case has been bound over to Lake County Court of Common Pleas.

Asuma was charged with attempted trafficking in .

Meanwhile, Judge John Trebets set Giamalas' bond at $83,000, which was not posted. His next court hearing is scheduled for Aug. 16.
