Mentor Police Catch Fugitive During Traffic Stop
Amanda Henry is accused of assault, using a stolen car and lying to police
Mentor Police arrested a fugitive, who is accused of assaulting someone in New York, after they stopped her for speeding Tuesday on Tyler Boulevard.
Amanda Henry, 27, was driving faster than 60 mph in a 35 mph zone when an officer pulled her over, Mentor Police Lt. Ken Zbiegien said.
Henry told police her last name was Maggadino, in part because she had a warrant out for her arrest from the Niagara Falls Police Department, Zbiegien said. The police in New York have charged her with assault and possession of a weapon.

Mentor Police arrested Henry and her 20-year-old boyfriend William Shimmel after they learned the car she was driving, a white Subaru Impreza, was reported stolen from Chautauqua, NY, Zbiegien said.
Consequently, police charged them both with receiving stolen property. Henry was also charged with falsification for lying to police and Shimmel was charged with obstructing justice, Zbiegien said.

Henry also faces a misdemeanor count of criminal damaging for carving "I love Will" into the door of her jail cell.
Henry and Shimmel were arraigned in . Judge John Trebets set Shimmel's bond at $100,000 and he did not offer Henry any bond.
Though both Henry and Shimmel are from the Niagara Falls area of New York, they had recently moved to Mentor and were staying in a hotel.
"They said they were looking for work," Zbiegien said.
