Mentor Still Looking For Concessionaire At Lagoons

City Manager's Office says it hopes Council will have some options to choose from in the next two weeks

The city of Mentor in by Memorial Day, but just because that date has come and gone doesn't mean the city is not still searching for a concessionaire.

The City Manager's Office told City Council in a memo that it received no proposals by last week's deadlin.

"The most likely reason is that in our haste to secure a vendor by Memorial Day weekend we did not provide enough time for responses," the memo read.

"However, we have since directly contacted several food/beverage operators who have indicated an interest in possibly considering an arrangement."

The memo also noted that the city hoped to have a few proposals from which Council could select in the next two weeks.

The vendor they pick would sell food and (nonalcoholic) drinks until Labor Day.

Any vendor who is selected -- and a food truck could qualify -- would have a license, not a lease, to operate.

The concessionaire would have to be open, at very least, on weekends and the summer holidays. They would also be expected to have all necessary licenses.
