Moms Talk: Family Meal Time

Does your family still get together for dinner?

Each week the Mentor Patch Moms Council answers a question on parenthood posed to them by readers or another member of council.

This week's question: How often do you and your family still get together for family meals? With the many responsibilities and hobbies that children (and grandchildren) have nowadays, do you still expect to get together for dinner (or breakfast or lunch)?

We are a very busy family with three active teenagers but I've always been a fanatic about having my family together for family meals on a regular basis.

It's not always the same number of nights per week, and we're certainly not eating June Cleaver-style 3-course meals, but my kids know that I expect them home for dinner when they aren't working or at sports or something.

Even if it's only for 20 minutes, sitting and talking about what's going on in their lives and in the world is really important to us and some days, dinner time is the only time we get - and friends are always welcome!

Mary Jo Stack:

We do all get together for dinner just about every night.

There may be nights here or there with activities that make it difficult; but, for the most part, we eat together almost every night.

Devone Lansing:

Because we are a family with young children, we are together for EVERY meal!
