Moms Talk: Summer Reading

What's on your list for the summer?

Each week the Mentor Patch Moms Council answers a question posed to them by readers or another member of council.

This week's question: What's on your summer reading list?

I read a lot. Just finished Janet Evanovich's 18, almost done with Dean Koontz's 77 Shadow Street.

I have 27 books on my Kindle yet to be read. And I have just started "The President's Club" by Nancy Gibbs and Michael Duffy.

I have a long list of want-to reads -- way to long to list here. I am always looking for more suggestions, so I look forward to what the other moms are or want to read.

Devone Lansing:

I am also a voracious reader.

I'm currently hooked on Amish fiction and I'll read anything by Dale Cramer, Wanda Brunstetter or Beverly Lewis.

I just finished the Booktown Mystery series, but I usually don't read mysteries; I was just desperate for books while on vacation.

I want to read Water for Elephants this summer (I somehow missed that boat last year) and The Facts of Life by Lisa Whelchel.

I also try to read some of the Bible everyday and lots of children's literature.

Jill Korsok:

Because I'm in graduate school, most of my reading is for school, but I'm just about to start a 10-day break (whoopee!) and I'll be finishing a few I've started: The Gathering Storm by Winston Churchill, The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot, and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter by Seth Grahame-Smith in that order.

If I can get to it, This I Believe by Jay Allison and Dan Gediman has been on my wish list for quite a while!

Melanie Majikas:

I have no time to actually read books since I am taking a summer class for my master's program, but with a nearly 2-hour commute for work every day, I listen to a lot of audiobooks.

My selections for audiobooks are usually quite different than what I would choose to read in hard copy. I just finished almost 10 months' worth of the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon on audio.

I tend to go in spurts with a particular author. I'm hoping to get to the Game of Thrones series very soon.

My list also contains The Autobiography of Mrs. Tom Thumb by Melanie Benjamin and a little political humor by Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart.
