PNC Bank Robbery Suspect Identified

A witness recognized Stacey Robinson as a previous customer of the bank

Mentor Police have identified Stacey Robinson

Witnesses recognized Robinson, 46, as a previous customer at the bank, Mentor Police Sgt. Richard Slovenkay said.

Robinson lives in Mentor in the Mentor Mall Village Apartments so policemen began checking the area for him.

Officers spotted Robinson about an hour after the robbery so they stopped and arrested him.

Robinson has been charged with robbery and will be arraigned 8 a.m. Thursday in .

Robinson is also being investigated as , which occurred this June in Mentor.

"We're looking into it," Slovenkay relpied when asked if Robinson was a suspect in the Dollar Bank robbery, as well. "There were some similarities between the bank robberies."

Mentor Police were called to the on Mentor Avenue for a robbery at 1 p.m. Thursday.

A man -- thought to be Robinson -- entered the bank and presented a note to the teller requesting all of her money.

Once he received the money, he fled the bank on foot.

He was last seen heading west on Mentor Avenue.

No weapon was seen and nobody was hurt.
