Police Looking For Vandals Who Targeted Church

Vandals damaged the garden, playground, building and even the roof of the East Shore Unitarian Universalist Church

The parishioners of East Shore Unitarian Universalist Church were stunned when they arrived at church Sunday morning for services and saw vandals had done to it some time during the weekend.

Toilet paper had been strewn across the front of it.

Planters were upturned with the dirt dumped on the entryway.

The scarecrows from organic garden had been moved -- one was put right in front of the church's welcome sign; the other on the roof.

The stones surrounding the peace pole had been extricated and used to buid a wall along the church's entryway.

Even a child's toy dump truck had been left in the parking spot reserved for the pastor.

Church members believe the vandalism occurred overnight from Saturday to Sunday.

Fortunately, all of the damage was to the outside of the building and most of it was able to be fixed with some work from the church members.

However, any one with information regarding the vandalism or the vandals is asked to call Kirtland Police Department at 440-256-3333.

Though East Shore is now in Kirtland, it was originally in Mentor for 43 years before moving 12 years ago.
