Hubbard council president questions pot funds (tribtoday.com) — Niles officials expect to start receiving marijuana tax revenue in 2026 after Senate Bill 56 secures a 10% excise tax and directs a share to cities hosting dispensaries. Mayor Steven Mientkiewicz says the new funds could support roads, parks, and other services, reducing the need to ask voters for future tax hikes. Wrong-way vehicle causes OSHP trooper to crash on I-680 (tribtoday.com) — A Niles teenager driving the wrong way onto I-680 near Austintown caused an Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper to swerve off the road and crash Friday night. The trooper was taken to the hospital as a precaution, while the 16-year-old from Niles was uninjured and remained on scene as investigators continue their review.

Resident survey will determine Warren Township goals for long term plan (wfmj.com) — Warren Township, just next door to Niles, is asking residents to help shape a new long-term growth plan that will guide development for the next 5, 10 and 20 years. Survey responses will influence sidewalks, safety facilities, housing on vacant sites, and efforts to attract new employers, potentially impacting how the wider Trumbull County area grows.
