Here are the top five stories in Toledo today:

  1. The Central Catholic High School girls basketball team has been removed from the state tournament after coach Ericka Hanes committed a "second recruiting violation within the program." Hanes was suspended indefinitely Tuesday as the team's 20-2 season ended and Napoleon will advance instead. (WTOL)
  2. The Toledo Police Department will be featured on the Reelz network's weekly show Patrol:Live. Camera crews will follow TPD officers on Friday, March 3 from 9 PM to 12 AM. (WTOL)
  3. The Toledo Public Schools' CDL program may begin as early as this fall at a site on Hill Avenue and McTigue Drive near Rogers High School. The Toledo City Council approved two permits for special use vehicles and a propane storage tank, though more state-level approvals must be obtained. (WTVG)
  4. The 'Hotel Royal' on Broadway in Downtown Toledo will be renovated to showcase three 1,200 square foot apartments and owner Erin Claussen's vintage home goods shop Revival Flea. Built in 1895, the building sits near Middlegrounds Metropark and the Amtrak station. (Toledo City Paper)
  5. The Indian Creek Zoo in Lambertville was fined $13,500 last year over the poor health of animals and even allowing "one resident animal to escape." The U.S. Department of Agriculture issued the fine as a violation of the Animal Welfare Act after a complaint from PETA. (Monroe Evening News)
