Two indicted in homicide of 70-year-old in north Toledo (wtol.com) — Two men have been indicted in the fatal shooting of 70-year-old Scott Hirschfield inside a North Ontario Street home in north Toledo, with charges including aggravated murder and aggravated robbery. Toledo police and court records say surveillance video and a witness helped identify the suspects, who pleaded not guilty and are each being held on $1 million bond.
   

2. Ohio governor signs series of property tax reform bills into law (13abc.com) — From Toledo, Gov. Mike DeWine announced five new property tax reform bills aimed at curbing surprise increases and tying hikes more closely to inflation. The changes are designed to give homeowners across Ohio, including Toledo residents, clearer, more predictable tax bills and a better understanding of what they’re approving at the ballot box.
   

3. 4 guards charged in April scuffle with Toledo Correctional inmate (toledoblade.com subscription) — Four officers at Toledo Correctional Institution have been indicted after an April altercation with an inmate, with two facing felony assault charges and all accused of dereliction of duty. The most serious cases will proceed in Lucas County Common Pleas Court, while related misdemeanor charges are being referred to Toledo Municipal Court, underscoring local accountability in the prison system.

Toledo Public Schools approved cuts, cost recovery plan; Here's what to know (wtol.com) — Toledo Public Schools has approved a cost recovery plan that immediately cuts about 100 positions and could delay opening the new Scott Park Campus. More job reductions, pay freezes, program cuts, and even a four-day week are on the table, with union talks and community input meetings expected as the district confronts a projected $68 million impact.
   

5.
