Local leaders say the nearly $1.3 million total will support projects that make walking, biking, and driving safer across northwest Ohio communities.

Man accused of choking, hitting woman after sandwich 'not made properly' (wtol.com) — Police in Toledo say a man has been arrested after a woman was choked and hit during a dispute over how a sandwich was made, including an alleged assault while she was holding a 4‑month‑old infant. The 24‑year‑old suspect faces felony strangulation and several misdemeanor charges, with a judge setting bond at $50,000 and a court date of Jan. 7.
   

3. Ohio CPA requirements are shifting. Here's the breakdown. (wtol.com) — Ohio is about to make it easier to become a CPA, and Toledo firms like ToledoCPAs.com expect the change to help meet growing local demand for accountants. Starting Jan. 1, candidates can qualify with fewer college credits but more work experience, which could ease tuition burdens and open doors for more Toledo-area students considering accounting careers.
   

4. Toledo man accused of sexually assaulting woman, hitting man who confronted him (13abc.com) — A 21-year-old Toledo man has been indicted in Lucas County on charges including sexual imposition, aggravated burglary, and assault after an alleged incident involving a neighbor in his Toledo neighborhood. Investigators say a woman reported waking to him touching her over her clothes, and that her husband and son were then struck when they confronted the suspect.
   

5. ‘I thought I found love': Toledo man says romance scam used stolen photos of Tennessee family (wtol.com) — A Toledo man says he lost more than $50,000 over years to a romance scammer who used stolen photos of a Tennessee mother and her children. After uncovering the deception, he and the family met in Toledo with an attorney, and reports have been filed with Toledo authorities, other states, and the FBI.
