Keondre Baker, 19, was arrested by Toledo Police for the June 2020 shooting death of 19-year-old James Smith Jr. Baker, who was 16 at the time, allegedly shot Smith at the Moody Manor apartment complex. Smith's father, James Smith Sr., was shot and killed in East Toledo just two days prior along with 39-year-old Dennison Brown. (WTOL)
  2. A Lucas County grand jury cleared seven Toledo Police officers who shot a man in January during a domestic violence call. TPD initially responded to the scene after a "woman reported that her husband was shooting a gun and that she may have possibly been shot." (WTVG)
  3. Leading Families Home will open a new shelter called Beach House Ashland with a 75-person occupancy "very warm, very homelike" layout according to Executive Director Lisa Banks. Board President Valerie Garforth highlighted the "first-rate kitchen, cafeteria, computer room, a kid's playroom" in addition to the 18 bedrooms. (WNWO)
  4. Mancy's Italian is in the market for a new site after its location at Monroe and Whiteford has been listed for sale. Co-owner George Mancy has expressed a desire to remain in the Sylvania Township area while offering "a more intimate location with our guests." (WTVG)
  5. Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost announced a lawsuit against Norfolk Southern regarding the February train derailment in East Palestine. The suit requests compensation for "cleanup, property damage, and lost profits for businesses" along with demands for water and soil testing for the future. (WTOL)

  • Toledo Fire & Rescue responded to a person trapped in the second floor of a house fire in the 4900 block of Ventura Drive on Monday. The victim is hospitalized with life-threatening injuries and TFRD crews reported neither seeing nor hearing any smoke detectors at the scene. (WTVG)
