🌱 Trial Begins For 2 Toledo Child Murders + Plans For Libbey HS Site

  • The trial for Kevin Moore, accusing of killing two children and wounding a third in February 2021, began Tuesday with opening statements and witness testimony.

  1. The trial for Kevin Moore, accusing of killing two children and wounding a third in February 2021, began Tuesday with opening statements and witness testimony. Moore was reportedly in a relationship with the children's mother at the time of the shooting and was charged with 2 counts of aggravated murder of a victim under 13 years of age along with felonious assault.   2. Whitmer High School student Taylor Alspaugh's arm will never be the same after she was one of three people injured in a shooting at a football game last October. Taylor has a metal plate in her shoulder and though Toledo Police impounded a vehicle connected to the shooting, no suspects have been identified. (WTVG)
  3. HOPE Toledo, an organization that began by offering free college tuition to the Scott High School class of 2020, has helped nearly 270 area students since then. The group aims to help younger students enter preschool with plans to "serve 300 students this year." (WNWO)
  4. Toledo Public Schools announced they will pursue a lease agreement to redevelop the former Libbey High School site on Western Avenue for "youth recreational opportunities." TPS also plans to acquire the Scott Park site on Nebraska Avenue from the state of Ohio for use for athletic and academic services. (WTOL)
  5. A naming contest will be held for the Toledo Zoo's new twin brother polar bear cubs. The cubs were born to 24-year-old Crystal and 18-year-old Nuka and the contest runs through March 12. (WNWO)
