Charles Reed, right, a senior studying English, looks on as English professor Timothy Geiger works with Ella Burns, a sophomore studying English, in the Typography Lab, a dedicated space devoted to preserving and maintaining the art and craft of the handmade book.

The course, which is open to all students, first explores the history of the book, then provides hands-on experience with hand printing and typography, and paper decoration techniques.
