• Stambaugh Chorus looking for singers (wkbn.com) — Youngstown singers are invited to join the Stambaugh Chorus as it prepares for “Sing Democracy 250,” a nationwide concert marking the country’s 250th birthday. Rehearsals are held Tuesday nights at Youngstown State University, and the group hopes to grow from 45 to around 70–80 members before its April performance in Warren.

• Churchgoers seek transparency after Youngstown Diocese closes Mother of Sorrows Church (cleveland19.com) — Youngstown’s Catholic Diocese is under scrutiny from Ashtabula parishioners after it closed the historic Mother of Sorrows Church, citing millions in needed roof and structural repairs. Neighbors with deep family ties to the parish say they weren’t properly consulted, want independent access to inspection reports, and are organizing to raise funds in hopes of reopening the church for prayer.
   

• Unity, color, pageantry mark Kwanzaa opening in Youngstown (vindy.com) — Youngstown residents packed New Bethel Baptist Church for a Kwanzaa kickoff focused on unity and protecting civil rights, voting access, and public education. Speakers tied national policy concerns to a local fight over moving the Mahoning County Board of Elections, urging continued nonviolent action and community solidarity to safeguard inner-city voters and Black cultural heritage.
