OKC seeks applicants for MAPS4 public art projects

City is looking to contract for public art for the atriums of the new MAPS 4 Convention Center

The City of Oklahoma City has announced a call for professional artists to submit their qualifications to be considered for public art for the two atriums of the new MAPS 4 Convention Center currently under construction.

The call suggests the art will be: instantly memorable, visually compelling, monumental, timeless and enduring, culturally appropriate, site specific, easily maintained, innovative in concept and construction

The Oklahoma City Downtown Convention Center will provide significant meeting spaces for national and regional business and non-profit conventions. Temporary displays, exhibits and concerts by local artists, designers and other creatives will be presented as stand-alone experiences and in conjunction with convention events for visitors and residents.
