OKCPS Reschedules Vote For Bond Oversight Committee (blackchronicle.com) — Oklahoma City Public Schools leaders have delayed choosing a new representative for the Bond Citizens Oversight Committee seat tied to District 5, which covers much of northeast Oklahoma City and Spencer. Residents and current committee members urged the board to pick someone who actually lives in the district, arguing that local voices are crucial for overseeing how bond money is spent.
   

2. Oklahoma City day care fire caused by car crash; 33 children, 5 staff safe (koco.com) — A car crashed into La Petite Academy on West Reno Avenue in Oklahoma City, sparking a fast-moving fire but all 33 children and five staff members were safely evacuated. Firefighters say staff acted quickly as pickup time and rush hour approached, while crews battled difficult access around the building. The driver was rescued and taken to the hospital, and the fire’s cause remains under investigation.
   

3. Oklahoma City man sentenced to over 9 years for illegal firearm possession (koco.com) — A 35-year-old Oklahoma City man has been sentenced to more than nine years in federal prison after a high-speed police chase near SE 15th Street and South Sunnylane Avenue led to the discovery of a firearm and ammunition. Prosecutors said he admitted being a felon in possession and noted his prior convictions for violent and property crimes.
   

4. ‘Don't be a Grinch': Holiday inflatables stolen from southwest Oklahoma City homes (koco.com) — Neighbors in southwest Oklahoma City are frustrated after thieves stole multiple holiday inflatables from front yards just minutes apart, and both affected families plan to press charges if the culprits are caught. Oklahoma City police say they don’t specifically track decoration thefts but acknowledge the same suspects may be responsible, prompting residents to upgrade security while trying to keep their holiday spirit alive.
