Here are the top 3 stories today in Oklahoma City:
- Police are searching for a suspect in an alleged kidnapping attempt in northwest Oklahoma City. The Oklahoma City Police Department released new security footage on Wednesday of a man lurking near the Indigo Apartments complex last week before grabbing a woman from behind while she checked her mailbox. The victim was able to safely escape, but officers are attempting to apprehend the suspect in order to prevent future attacks. (KFOR Oklahoma City)
- A power outage Tuesday night caused the Oklahoma City 911 call line to stop working. According to Captain Valerie Littlejohn of the Oklahoma City Police Department, calls made to the emergency line from 5:00-5:45 a.m. on Tuesday morning did not go through to dispatchers. Littlejohn added that Oklahoma City residents can try calling the backup emergency line at (405) 231-2121 if calls to 911 are not going through. (KOCO Oklahoma City)
- Employees at a Starbucks in the Oklahoma City metro area are petitioning for a union election. If the baristas in favor of unionization win the vote, their union membership will be recognized by the National Labor Relations Board. The Nichols Hills store is the first Starbucks in Oklahoma to call for a union election and follows a swell of demands for union elections among locations nationwide. (Oklahoma City Free Press)
