Here are the top three stories in Oklahoma City today:

  1. On Saturday, the Oklahoma City Zoo and Oklahoma Blood Institute hosted a weekend blood drive. The partnership between the Blood Institute and the zoo will continue through this week. Anyone who donates blood between March 14 and 17 through the Oklahoma Blood Institute gets tickets to the Oklahoma City Zoo or the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum and a T-shirt. (News On 6)
  2. A woman was found stabbed and shot inside of a stairwell in an Oklahoma City hospital’s parking garage. Police were unable to confirm if the victim was a hospital employee or a possible patient. Officers said they have identified a person of interest at this time but are unable to confirm any other details, including the type of getaway vehicle. (KOCO Oklahoma City)
  3. Oklahoma City police have made more arrests in a string of at least 10 burglaries targeting medical marijuana dispensaries and other grows across Oklahoma City. According to investigators, they’re all tied to one specific crew. As of Friday, three of the suspects were in custody, a fourth suspect bonded out, and there is a fifth arrest warrant out for another suspect. The burglaries began in late October with a break-in at a business located off on North Classen Boulevard. The document shows the other crimes being investigated continued through January. From my notebook:

  • Firefighters responded to a house fire on Saturday morning near the 500 block of SE 70th. During their search efforts, they rescued and resuscitated a cat from the burning structure. The cat was meowing and doing well before the firefighters left the scene. (Facebook)
  • Adoptions are from 12 pm to 5:30 pm every day at Oklahoma City Animal Welfare! The shelter is located at 2811 SE 29th St. We have over 100 adoptable dogs! They can't wait to meet you. (Facebook)
  • See the "Art Abled" exhibit at the Crystal Bridge ART Gallery, which will take place from March 3 through April 11. One in four Americans live with a disability at some point in their lives, whether visible or not. Disabilities affect how individuals interact with the world around them and open unique avenues for creative exploration. Each of the artists in this show uses art to communicate in a distinctive way based on their personal experiences. (Facebook)
