Here are the top 3 stories today in Tulsa:
- An elderly woman is in custody following a slow-speed chase with police early Monday morning. Officers spotted the woman driving very slowly on northbound Highway 75 around 6 a.m. and attempted to perform a traffic stop, but the driver would not pull over. The woman is in custody, but police say she is unlikely to face charges in the case, in which speeds never exceeded 35 miles per hour. (KTUL)
- The City of Tulsa is once again partnering with Upcycle for its annual Rain Barrel Event. During the event, the nation's largest manufacturer of upcycled rain barrels, will offer rain barrels at a discounted rate to help Tulsans harvest rainwater and lower their water bills. Each barrel will cost around $60 and will include a mosquito screen, overflow spigot, and linking capability. (KOKI FOX 23)
- A family-owned bike shop and service center is opening a new coffee shop and bakery. Owners of Mother Road Motorsports say the new restaurant, Gears and Grinds, will cater to Route 66 travelers and anyone else wanting to "talk shop." The shop also plans to play host to an antique bike show and the Tulsa Vespa Club meetings this spring and summer. (tulsapeople.com)
Looking for a healthy alternative to that mid-week glass (or three) of wine? Our partners at Betera set out to create beverages that were sophisticated and flavorful enough to drink at cocktail hour but with zero hangover risk. (Their motto is "Drink like there's tomorrow.") Betera's drinks are designed by a Michelin-starred chef using natural botanicals — they're lightly effervescent, sippable, refreshingly bitter and at home in a stem glass or in a highball on the rocks. Betera offers three recipes — Rhubarb-Hibiscus, Elderflower-Lime and Ginger-Orange. We've tried all three and loved them equally — we recommend the mixed case as a great place to start.
