Mt. Hood Meadows Raises Base Pay, Gives Raises To All Employees

GRESHAM, OR — More skiers means more revenue which means more money to pay people more. That's the reality that Mt. Hood Meadows ski resort shared with people on Thursday.

The resort announced that the base pay for employees will be $15 per hour and all employees will see their pay go up $1.25 per hour.

Meadows says that the increases put their entry-level wage $2.25 above the state-required minimum.

"We have long provided meaningful work, a chance to learn new skills, and a fun team atmosphere," the resort's VP of People and Learning, Matt Troskey, said.

"With this increase in wages, along with other improvements to our compensation program, we hope to continue to assist our team to afford to live in the area."

General Manager Greg Pack said that this is just one more example of how they put safety concerns for their employees first, a fact that was confirmed by the decision by the National Ski Areas Association to award them Best Employee Safety.

"We want a healthy, energized, passionate team to operate our resort and provide enriching experiences to our guests every day," Pack said.. "We always want to put our team first ."

Meadows is hosting a job fair this Saturday in Hood River. From 1 p.m.-5 p.m. managers will be meeting candidates at the Best Western Plus Hood River Inn.
