New Lake Oswego Ordinance Requires 14-Day Notice on Residential Demolitions

The new law says that notices be mailed, which had not been previously required.

If you're going to demolish a home in Lake Oswego, you're going to have to post notices and mail notices to neighbors 14 days before.

That's thanks to a new ordinance passed by the City Council last month. It goes into effect on December 1st.

Previously contractors were not required to post notice or send letters to neighbors.

Officials say the rule is about giving neighbors notice so they are not surprised. It's not about creating a new appeal process.

The notices must be posted on the property to be demolished and mailed to the parcels abutting it.
