Portland Sees Likely 34th Homicide As Gunshot Victim Dies At Hospital
Portland police said that a gunshot victim was dropped off by someone at Legacy Emanuel Hospital. The person died.

PORTLAND, OR — A person was brought to Legacy Emanuel Hospital early Sunday morning after having been shot at least, according to Portland police. The person died there despite efforts to save him.
As that was happening, police said that detectives were at Southeast 9th Ave. and Ash St. after calls were made to 911 reporting a shooting.
Detectives found evidence of the shooting and were told by witnesses that the person who was shot had been taken to the hospital in someone's car, police said.

Police have not released any information about the victim or what might have led to the shooting.
Later in the day, they did release information about a man who was killed early Saturday morning.

Police said that 52-year-old Jose Monroy Casteneda was found shot and killed by the intersection of Southeast 136th Ave. Southeast Powell Blvd.

As for the Sunday shooting, if anyone has any information, police ask that they contact either Det. Joe Corona at 503-823-0508 and Joseph.corona@portlandoregon.gov or Det. Jennifer Hertzier at 503-823-1040 and Jennifer.hertzier@portlandoregon.gov.
A law enforcement officials said that these two homicides will bring the total to 34 this year. of which at least 32 will have been caused by gunfire.
Officials are still waiting for more information on the death on a man whose body was pulled out of the Columbia Slough 3 weeks ago.
