Here are the top three stories in Portland today:

  1. As of Monday, Amtrak officially restarted offering train service between Portland and Vancouver, B.C., three years after the COVID-19 pandemic halted service on the line. Travelers in Portland have the option of a daily roundtrip train that leaves Portland's Union Station at 3 p.m. and arrives at Vancouver's Pacific Central Station at 11 p.m. (OregonLive)
  2. The director of Portland's Office of Equity and Human Rights abruptly resigned on Thursday. Lisa Watson has served in the position since May 2022, and a letter to her staff announcing her resignation reportedly credited her decision to tensions experienced with Commissioner Dan Ryan, who was recently placed in charge of overseeing the bureau. (Oregon Public Broadcasting)
  3. Portland Planned Parenthood is planning to host a fundraiser in honor of the upcoming International Women's Day on Mar. 8. The Out Loud & with Laughter event will feature guest speakers Ruby McConnell and author Judy Gumbo who will share their stories. The event will start at 2 p.m. at the Women's Foundation of Oregon, and tickets are still available to attend. (KOIN.com)
