3 Detained After Brief Struggle With Abington Police
Abington Police found a stolen loaded revolver in a backpack search on Wednesday night. A struggle led to a large police presence.
ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA — Three people were taken into custody Wednesday night following a search that led to a brief struggle with a police officer, police said.
The Abington Township Police Department said that during drone training at the McKinley Fire Station on Wednesday night, police officers spotted two people rolling suspected marijuana and manipulating items inside a backpack.
A police officer conducted a pedestrian stop and found the two uncooperative.

A search of the backpack revealed a loaded revolver, later confirmed to be stolen out of Philadelphia.
Both resisted arrest but were taken into custody after a brief struggle. A third person who interfered with the investigation was also detained.

An Officer Assist call was issued due to the resistance, resulting in a large police presence from neighboring departments. The incident was safely resolved without injuries and was captured by an APD drone, police said.
