House Fire Under Investigation In Cheltenham

Fire crews responded to the Christmas Eve house fire on North Avenue in Wyncote.

CHELTENHAM TOWNSHIP, PA — A house fire on Christmas Eve in Wyncote is under investigation, authorities said.

Fire crews responded at 5:47 a.m. on Wednesday to a fire in the unit block of North Avenue in Wyncote, the Glenside Fire Company said.

Cheltenham Police were first on the scene and reported fire from the rear of a single-family home.

This resulted in an upgrade to a house fire, bringing surrounding mutual aid units.

Engine 1 arrived first with five firefighters and stretched an attack hose line to extinguish a fire on the first floor rear of the dwelling. Next arriving units performed a primary search, threw ground ladders, and opened up the building to ventilate.

The fire is under investigation by the Cheltenham Fire Marshal’s Office.

No injuries were reported, fire officials said.
