Abington Unveils New Interactive Online Parks Map

The suburban community in Montgomery County is home to more than 25 parks. A new web tool allows the public to more easily search amenities.

ABINGTON, PA — Abington officials have unveiled a new interactive online map of the township’s park system, allowing member of the public to more easily search nearby recreational facilities.

The township announced the new web tool this week, and Abington residents and visitors can use it to search through the community’s ample amenities.

The mapping website says that the Abington Township Parks and Recreation Department maintains more than 20 public parks, which include a skate park, two swimming pools, a nature center with a museum and bird observatory, a bird reservoir and more.

The new map allows individuals to search for parks and other township-run facilities either by location and/or by amenities available.

Abington is a first-class township in eastern Montgomery County and is home to more than 55,000 residents, making it one of the larger communities comprising the inner ring Philadelphia suburbs.

The township website says the community is actually home to closer to 25-plus parks comprising over 375 acres of open space.

The township is also home to some notable Pennsylvanians – state Attorney General Josh Shapiro calls this community home and U.S. Rep. Madeleine Dean, of the 4th Congressional District, is an Abington native.
