Arne Rodland, Red Cross Ambulance Driver

Rodland was a former electrical officer for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines and an Ambulance Driver for the Red Cross; funeral services will be private.

 

Arne Christopher Rodland died Saturday, May 18, at Holy Redeemer Hospital Hospice. He was 83. 

Born in Mandal, Norway, he was a son of Lars Rodland and Edith Kristine Olsen.

Rodland had many jobs in his lifetime, at one point serving as an ambulance driver for the Red Cross. His career choices took him around the world. These experiences enriched his life, and allowed him to share many life lessons. He also worked as an electrical officer for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, where he met his wife, Joanne. They were married in 1991 in Miam and both retired in 1994.

Rodland was a member of the Sons of Norway, an organization whose mission serves to promote and preserve the heritage and culture of Norway.

Rodland is survived by his wife; a brother, Lars Rodland of Norway; two sons, Tor Erik Rodland of Norway and Ralph Rodland of High Point, N.C.; three daughters, Dawn Zapiec of Glenside, Elin Heddeland of Norway, and Anne Lisa Foss of Norway; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Bjorn Rodland, of Norway.
