Right Lanes Will Be Closed On Route 611 Bridge In Abington On Wed. For Bridge Inspection

ABINGTON, PA — Motorists who commute along Route 611 (York Road) in Abington are advised of an upcoming disruption mid-week.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced that right lanes will be closed in both directions along Route 611 between Susquehanna Road and Old Welsh Road in the township on Wednesday between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. for bridge inspection.

Drivers are encouraged to allow extra travel time during the bridge inspections as traffic could back up due to the lane closures.

PennDOT says this bridge inspection is part of its program to inspect bridges across the commonwealth at least once every two years to ensure safety and overall condition of the structures.

The lane closure announcement was made by PennDOT District 6, which covers the Greater Philadelphia region, and includes Philadelphia, Bucks, Montgomery, Delaware and Chester Counties.

District 6 includes a total of 2,760 total bridges, according to information found on PennDOT's website.
