Brooklyn Woman Attempts $5K in Fraudulent Watch Purchases, Police Say

The woman tried to buy three fairly expensive watches while using another woman's account, according to police.

Abington Police arrested a Brooklyn woman after she allegedly tried to buy thousands of dollars worth of watches at the mall.

Ayana Renee Gazader, 22, of East 38th Street, was arrested earlier this month after she attempted to buy three watches at Macy’s in Willow Grove Park mall — totaling $4,990 — by using someone else’s Macy’s credit card, police said.

According to police, Gazader asked the clerk to ring up her up by using her “name.” She then provided a New York driver’s license with her picture but someone else’s name and information. After two failed attempts, Gazader left the store … and was arrested in the 2400 block of Moreland Road a short time later.

Police spoke with the woman whose account Gazader had attempted to use, and the woman said her Macy’s credit account had been compromised in the past, and has since been cancelled, according to the report. The woman said that she does not know Gazader.

A search of Gazader’s purse revealed a counterfeit New York driver’s license, police said. Gazader was taken to police headquarters and charged with access device fraud, theft, identity theft and possessing an instrument of crime.
