ABINGTON, PA — The basketball courts at Crestmont Park have undergone a complete renovation, the space upgraded since it had fallen into disrepair from years of heavy and frequent use.

The township on Tuesday posted a video to social media showing before and after images of the basketball courts located inside of Crestmont Park, which is a 19.4-acre community space located at Old Welsh Road and Reservoir Avenue in Abington's Willow Grove section.

In the video, the township shows before photos of the basketball courts, which had peeling paint and what was termed "large and severe cracks, creating a hazard for the players."

The township says it temporarily filled in the large cracks with asphalt, and when it dried, they removed the asphalt, smoothed out the surface and applied a product that is designed to permanently fill in the remainder of the cracks and provide a "smooth and durable playing surface."

The court was then thoroughly repainted.

"This transformation is a great improvement to the park as this court is heavily used by both leagues and residents, and we hope they enjoy it," the narrator of the video says.

In addition to the basketball courts, Crestmont Park also has a softball field, tennis courts, a natural ice-skating area, swimming pool complex, and playground area for young children.

Abington Township is home to a number of community parks and fields for both residents and non-residents alike.
