First Responders Recognized For Fighting SPS Technologies Fire
The Jenkintown School Board honored the first responders who battled the blaze during its meeting on Monday night.

JENKINTOWN, PA —The Jenkintown School District honored the borough's First Responders who battled the SPS Technologies blaze last month.
Schools Superintendent Jill Takacs and the Jenkintown School District Board of Directors presented certificates to the first responders during the board's meeting on Monday night.
Nearly 70 fire companies fought the fire that damaged the 600,000-square-foot SPS Technologies building on Highland Avenue that happened on Feb. 17.

The fire forced the closure of area schools for several days, including the Jenkintown School District, which was in the heart of the fire area.
Police Chief Tom Scott thanked the superintendent and school board for recognizing the first responders.

"We had the distinct privilege of recognizing our local first responders' incredible dedication and bravery," school officials said.
In a "heartfelt gesture of appreciation," the board presented certificates of recognition to these extraordinary individuals "for their unwavering service" to the Jenkintown community.
"This recognition comes in light of their exceptional efforts to keep our town safe during and after the SPS Technologies fire. In times of crisis, our first responders answered the call without hesitation, working tirelessly to protect lives, contain the situation, and ensure the well-being of our residents. Their courage and commitment exemplify the very best of public service," school officials said. "Your selfless dedication does not go unnoticed, and we are profoundly grateful for your service."
