Fuel Spill In Cheltenham Creek Causes Gas Odor
Cheltenham Township officials are warning residents that the gas odor could last for a few days after a fuel spill into a creek on Saturday.
CHELTENHAM TOWNSHIP, PA — Cheltenham Township officials are warning residents of a gas odor that could last for days this week.
Cheltenham Township officials and police said an odor of gasoline is coming from the creek at Coventry and Valley and along Coventry Avenue.
Officials said that first responders were on the scene from 9 p.m. Saturday until after midnight on Sunday, placing booms in the creek due to a fuel spill.

First responders included the Fire Department, Emergency Management, Cheltenham Police, Cheltenham Fire Marshal's Office, EMS, DEP, PA Fish and Boat Commission.
The spill was isolated, and booms were placed in the creek to prevent the product from going further down the creek.

Officials are still investigating the cause of the spill. Residents in the area may smell a petroleum odor in the area for several days.
Officials said that the situation has been addressed.
Authorities also alerted the State Department of Environmental Protection, and the Fish and Boat Commission.
