Gas Leak To Blame For Abington Road Closure Last Week: Police
The Friday evening leak emitted chlorine gas near Holy Redeemer Hospital, police said.
ABINGTON, PA - A gas leak closed Huntingdon Pike in Abington Friday evening, police said.
The closure, which affected Huntington Pike between Moredon Road and Moreland Road, was first reported at around 5:45 p.m. by Abington police on social media.
The leak emitted chlorine gas, police said. Residents were urged to avoid the area if possible. It wasn’t immediately clear if the leak came from Holy Redeemer Hospital or any of the residential units in the area.

The road has since reopened and the gas leak was contained, police said in a Twitter post around 6 p.m. on Friday.
