Limekiln Pike Bridge Closure Postponed To July 30
A road closure due to bridge reconstruction work that had originally been scheduled to begin today has been rescheduled due to power outage.
ABINGTON, PA — A local road closure that was scheduled to begin today has now been moved to July 30 due to a PECO power outage.
Route 152, which is also Limekiln Pike, was scheduled to close between Willow Grove Avenue and Mount Carmel Avenue beginning today and running through July 26, but the closure will now take place on July 30 starting at 7 p.m. and running through 5 a.m. on Aug. 2, Abington Township announced today.
The Limekiln Pike Bridge will be closed in both directions due to the infrastructure work along the stretch of Limekiln Pike in both Abington and neighboring Cheltenham Township.

Work crews are scheduled to put up bridge beams and remove the existing Aqua Water Bridge as part of the project to remove and replace the existing bridge due to a need to address failings in the bridge deck and superstructure, Abington officials previously stated.
Commuters will be detoured over Mount Carmel Avenue and Easton Road while the bridge work takes place.

The bridge had been rated in serious condition due to the deterioration and severe cracking that had been discovered during a bridge inspection.
There had been a number of previous closures and detours up to this point due to the bridge work, which is being handled by general contractor Neshaminy Constructors Inc., according to PennDOT, which puts the dollar figure for the project at $3,158,574.
The project, being paid for entirely with federal funds, is expected to be completed this summer.
