New Leaders Taking Over In Eastern Montco Reorganizations

Hatboro and Horsham are among the Montco communities that will appoint new presidents and vice presidents to lead their governments.

EASTERN MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA — Communities in eastern Montgomery County will reorganize their governments right after the new year, welcoming new members and appointing new leaders for 2026.

Depending on any party changes, some governments — council, supervisors, commissioners — will reappoint those who have held posts as president and vice president.

Hatboro will see a new council president to replace George Bollendorf, who served in the post for eight years.

Horsham will appoint a new council president and vice president as the Democratic party has taken over all five council seats in the township.

Abington Township

The Township of Abington Board of Commissioners will meet for its reorganization meeting at 7 p.m. on Monday. The board will elect one commissioner as president and another as vice president. The meeting agenda is available at www.abingtonpa.gov/agendas on the township's website. All interested parties are invited to attend.

Cheltenham Township

The Board of Commissioners will hold its reorganization meeting at 8 p.m. on Monday at Curtis Hall at 1250 West Church Road in Wyncote.

Hatboro Borough

The next public meeting of the Borough Council is at 7 p.m. on Monday for the borough's reorganization meeting. Once council members are sworn in, a new council president, vice president, and pro-tem will be elected by the council. Then there will be staff appointments. No business will be conducted at the meeting. The meeting agenda will be posted on the borough's website at www.myhatboro.org.

Horsham Township

The Horsham Township Council will hold its reorganization meeting on Monday at the Horsham Township Municipal Building at 1025 Horsham Road in Horsham.

The meeting will include a call to order, the board Reorganization, the approval of the 2026 meeting schedule, and the approval of past meeting minutes. The meeting is open to the public.

Other reorganization meetings include the Planning Commission on Jan. 6, and the Zoning Hearing Board on Jan. 13.

Jenkintown Borough

Jenkintown Borough's 2026 reorganization meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Monday at Borough Hall at 700 Summit Avenue in Jenkintown.
