PSU Abington Students Get All-Conference Team Nods
A pitcher, an outfielder and a catcher make the NEAC All-Conference Team
The North Eastern Athletic Conference announced its 2013 softball all-conference selections Thursday.
Penn State Abington sophomore pitcher Michaela Drogalis, of Croydon, was selected by the league as the 2013 NEAC South Pitcher of the Year. She was also a first team pick.
Senior outfielder Trish Watson, of Bensalem, and junior catcher Shelia O'Hagan, of Willow Grove, both earned second-team honors, while head coach, David Hoch was honored as Coach of the Year after taking Abington to a record of 13-7 against league opponents, qualifying for the NEAC Playoffs for the first time in program history. Head coaches from conference member institutions nominate and then vote on the award.

Drogalis had a strong outing on the mound this season, pitching 207.1 innings in 35 games. She led the conference in wins and shutouts and is listed in the top 15 in the nation with 20 victories. This also makes her the first Nittany Lion pitcher to earn 20 wins and six shutouts in a season since joining NEAC in 2009. Drogalis struck out a season-high 109 batters, allowing just 165 runs on 270 hits, walking 79 for an ERA of 4.15 in 30 complete games pitched. At the plate, Drogalis batted .284 for the year, collecting 24 RBIs, three home runs, seven doubles, and 22 runs scored with two stolen bases.
O'Hagan played in all 36 games and had an average of .373. She led the conference in RBIs with 28 and home runs with eight. O'Hagan posted 35 RBIs, 38 hits, five doubles, two triples, stole bases five times and walked nine times.

Watson batted .358 on the year, recorded 14 RBIs, 34 hits, six doubles and a home run and was walked nine times. She posted 28 put outs with three assists to end her career with .909 fielding percentage.
Abington finished the season 20-17 overall and finished 13-7 in NEAC Conference play, earning the third seed of the NEAC championship tournament.
The conference championship, hosted by Penn State Berks, Friday with the top three teams from each division qualifying for postseason play. The Nittany Lions will take on SUNYIT in game one Friday afternoon at 2 p.m.
