Abington managed to get on the bases with a pair of hits and walks in the first five innings, advancing the runners to third on all four scoring opportunities, but could not advance the runner to home. In the top of the sixth inning, Sheila O'Hagan walked before advancing to second on a ground play by Trish Watson. Nicole Battaglio then singled out to right field for an RBI single, rounding O'Hagan from second to plate the lone run of the game for the Nittany Lions.

After a 1-2-3 play in the bottom of sixth, Abington had one last inning to rally back from a three run deficit. However, Wilson's Taylor Crouse struck out the first two Abington batters, before Wilson put out the final out of the game for the 4-1 win. Crouse was the factor for Wilson all game long as she did not make it easy on the Nittany Lions, striking out seven batters on the day, allowing just one run on three hits and walking four.

Michaela Drogalis pitched all six innings, allowing four runs on seven hits and struck out two Phoenixes on the day. O'Hagan led the squad with a run after going 1-for-2 at the plate while Battaglio also went 1-for-2 with an RBI.

The Nittany Lions finished the 2013 season with a 20-19 overall record and finished tied for second in the conference standings with a 13-7 record. While the opportunity to continue postseason play in the NCAA has eluded them, the Nittany Lions will participate in the ECAC Softball Championship Tournament, which will be announced Monday, May 7.
