Reception and a K-9 5K, this Week in Abington

Check out a few of the events happening this week in Abington.

The Abington School Board will meet Tuesday, April 23 at 7:30 p.m. in the district’s administration building. Check back on Tuesday for the meeting’s agenda.

The Abington Community Taskforce will hold its annual Citizens That Care Recognition Reception April 25 from on Thursday, April 25 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the North Hills Country Club, 99 Station Ave., North Hills.

Honorees include:

  • The Rev. Jerome Coleman, First Baptist Church of Crestmont
  • Ellen DeRose, Aldersgate Prevention Coordinator
  • Jenkintown Day Nursery
  • Michael Sandler, teacher and Teens Against Drugs and Alcohol advisor for 24 years at Abington Junior High School.

The inaugural K-9 5K to benefit the Abington Police K-9 Unit and Citizens and Police Together (CAPT), will be held Sunday, April 28 from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Registration happens at 8 a.m. at Vince Trosina State Farm, 1021 Old York Road, Abington. The race begins an hour later.

Cost is $25 for adults; $15 for children 12 and under. For more information, call Stephanie at 215-572-1200.

Penn State Abington will hold its Spring Sing on Friday, April 26 at 7:30 p.m. featuring the school’s singers. The event, which will be held at the Sutherland Building, is free.
