Rep. Madeleine Dean & Her Son Discuss Book About Family Addiction At Abington Library
Rep. Madeleine Dean and her son, Harry Cunnane, wrote a book together called "Under Our Roof," about their family's history with addiction.

ABINGTON, PA — The community is invited to hear a discussion about a book co-written by Congressman Madeleine Dean and her son about their family's long struggle with addiction during an event next week at the Abington Township Public Library.
Dean and her son, Harry Cunnane, will host the book event on Feb. 23 at 7 p.m. at the library, which is located at 1030 Old York Road.
Dean, who previously served as a state representative and is now a Democrat representing Pennsylvania's Fourth Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives, cowrote Under Our Roof along with her son.

The story tells the tale of opioid addiction and recovery and talks of Dean found out that Cunnane was battling a painkiller addiction just as she was running for political office.
The book was concurrently published alongside You Are Always Loved: A Story of Hope, which is described as a child's companion to the adult book.

Cunnane has been involved in the addiction recovery community since he first got clean more than seven years ago, according to the library. He is a member of a 12-step program and he now works as a resource director for the same treatment center where he originally sought help.
During the Abington event, Dean and Cunnane will offer readings from their books as well as take questions from those in attendance.
Emily Cooper, a board member and treasurer of the Abington Township Public Library, will moderate the discussion.
The public is invited to attend but registration is required in advance.
