The "Shawshank Redemption" was adapted from a short story by writer Stephen King, set in 1946, Tim Robbins plays a banker named Andy Dufresne, wrongly convicted of murder and sentenced to life in state prison.
Believing he will crack under pressure, a fellow inmate, played by Morgan Freeman, takes Andy under his wing as they navigate the hardships, sadness, joy, and friendships experienced behind bars.
Thirty years on, the movie is considered one of King's best big-screen adaptations due to its engrossing story and sympathetic characters, the theater said.
