Shooting Threat Prompts Lockdown At Cheltenham School
Cheltenham Police are investigating a shooting threat made at Cedarbrook Middle School on Friday.

CHELTENHAM TOWNSHIP, PA —The Cheltenham Township Police Department is investigating a school shooting threat made against Cedarbrook Middle School on Friday.
Cheltenham Police said a Cedarbrook Middle School student received a text message Friday morning from a person who stated they were going to commit a school shooting at the school at 10 a.m.

Police said the student immediately notified school staff, who instituted a lockdown and notified Cheltenham Police.
Police responded rapidly and assisted in securing the school and preparing for any incident that could possibly occur.

No incident of violence occurred, and the lockdown was lifted at 1030 a.m. Friday, police said.
In an abundance of caution, the school will remain in ‘lockout’ for the remainder of the school day, police said. Police will remain at the school for the rest of the day.
Cheltenham Detectives are currently investigating in an attempt to identify the origin of the threat.
Updates will be given as this investigation progresses, police said.
