U.S. Rep. Dean Blasts Passing Of 'Big Beautiful Bill'
The Montgomery County representative called President Trump's bill the "worst piece of legislation in modern history."

GLENSIDE, PA — U.S. Rep Madeleine Dean blasted President Donald Trump's "Big Beautiful Bill," calling it "the worst piece of legislation in modern history."
This bill, spearheaded by President Trump and supported by dozens of "spineless congressional Republicans," enacts massive cuts to crucial programs like Medicaid and SNAP — all to funnel money to America’s billionaire class, Dean said.
"At a time when too many Americans struggle to afford basic goods, Republicans chose to appease their rich friends while the poorest among us pay," Dean said.

President Trump's "big beautiful bill" was passed by the U.S. House of Representatives Thursday, a major victory for MAGA's landmark legislation that could eliminate health insurance for millions while providing huge tax breaks for the wealthy and increasing inequality.
The latest vote tally is 218-214, with one person left to cast their vote. One of the final Republican dissenters was from Pennsylvania, Bucks County's Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick. The other was Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie.

Dean said she would not vote to strip healthcare away from 17 million Americans, including more than 300,000 Pennsylvanians.
"I will not support depriving 42 million Americans of food. I will not put 26,000 Pennsylvanians working in our energy industry out of a job," she said.
Dean said that all week, constituents have asked her, “Who would vote for such a thing?”
The One Big Beautiful Bill Act has been uniformly vilified by Democrats and faced significant pushbacks from segments of the Republican Party, whom Trump threatened with the removal of his support in their primary races if they did not "fall in line." The fraught passage represents a major, if deeply divisive, victory for the Trump administration in advancing their vision for the nation, and is the first big legislative win of Trump's second term.
"The answer is clear: Congressional Republicans would vote for such a thing — save for a few — because they’d rather fight to be the President’s new favorite than fight for their own constituents," Dean said. "They have lost their way — crying waste, fraud, and abuse while passing legislation that would explode the deficit by $4 trillion. I think of the words Pope Leo XIV lifted up earlier this year: 'Can they not see the suffering of others?'"
Dean said that budgets are moral documents.
"This is an immoral bill," Dean said. "I will continue to oppose any attempt to strip lifelines from Berks and Montgomery counties. Meanwhile, I pray Republicans find their way back to reality. I pray they find their spine and soul and soon — not for their sake or for mine, but for the good of families across our country."
